Well, we come to the end of another very busy year for the band. 21 Ceilidhs this year and most of those were for weddings. Weve played at some very nice venues this year too, Wallasey Town Hall, the Shankley Hotel, The Liver Building, and La Malouine Tall ship were our favourites! Short rest over Christmas then its looking forwards to Burns night, which has seen a revival in recent years. Time to brush up on our Scottish sets and to get the kilts out! Thanks to everyone who booked us this year, and to those who enjoyed our Ceilidhs, we hope to see you again in the new year.
Lauren and Nicks wedding, Holmes Mill, Clitheroe, July 2018
This wedding must be one of the coolest wedding gigs we’ve played at. Great crowd, and great dancing. We wish the couple the very best.

Wow, this has got to be our busiest year to date. Ceilidhs seem to be the ‘must have’ for wedding celebrations, judging by the number of enquiries we have been receiving. Its really good to see the resurgence in popularity of traditional dancing at family and community celebrations. Celebrating Burns night seems to have overtaken St Patricks Day celebrations if our bookings are indicative of a general trend.
We are looking forward to performing again at Liverpool Tall Ships celebration on 27th May. Catch us on one of the big Ships!
We are half way through the year and over the last few months we have noticed a big increase in requests for Ceilidhs at weddings. It is great to see a resurgence in the popularity of Ceilidhs, especially by younger people. Our experience has confirmed that Ceilidhs are a wonderful and fun way to involve guests of all ages at such celebrations.
The band has undergone some changes as our younger musicians have moved on to further study or jobs abroad, but we are pleased to welcome our new fiddle player, Peter Morgan, to the band. Peter is an accomplished musician and teacher and we look forward to playing with him in the future.
Well, its nearly the end of the year and this has been our best year yet. we have been priveledged to play at so many weddings, birthdays and other special occasions this year, as well as our usual weekend at Folk on the Coast, and fundraising for various charities. Next year is looking very promising too, we already have bookings right through until July 2017, with Im sure a lot more to come. We also welcome Lizzy, our latest addition to the band. Lizzy plays fiddle, and we look forward to playing many more gigs with her in the future. We are pleased to once again support the Scouservarious project, with a concert on 29th January at the Nordic Church, Liverpool. Tickets are available from Phoenix Violins at the Bluecaot Chambers, Liverpool. See you there!
Its certainly been a busy few months for Celtic Knot. 2 radio appearances, a host of Ceilidhs, a festival and a few concerts for good measure! The wedding season is now in full swing and Ceilidhs are becoming very popular for wedding celabrations, so we are busier than ever.
Sadly we are shortly saying goodbye to our fabulous fiddle play Maddy as she has completed her degree in Liverpool. We wish her well in her future studies.
So we continue as a four piece band but with the exciting possibility of having a singer join the group.
Its been an exciting start to the new year with two live performances on radio Merseyside, and performing in a concert for the launch of the Scouservarious Legacy Project in Liverpool.
We already have a busy schedule of Ceilidhs booked and are once again appearing at Wirral Folk on the Coast Festival in early June. We are currently in the process of recording some sample tracks for our website. watch this space!
